Cats!

There is a modest colony of cats who are also residents at the hotel here.  Numbers are not on the scale of the Lanzarote problem of yesteryear, but they are feral cats as they were in the Canaries.

Some will let themselves be stroked, others are more skittish and run off.  The hotel gives them water and the guests give them food - although we saw one guest surreptitiously put some food down and the cat promptly turned its nose up and walked away - now the food here is excellent, so I don't know what cats expect these days!

Very intelligent cat!

We had a tribute act last night - more on that later - they were billed as  'Divo' as a tribute to 'Il Divo' and 'The Three Tenors', but we affectionately dubbed them 'Il Dire-o' as they were fairly awful.

The cat had clearly had enough and decided to slip away even before we did - by the time we left we thought we might be the ones who would have to turn out the lights!  We were so traumatised on returning to our room that we had to find some footage of the real Il Divo on Youtube to calm us down again!

We also have assertive sparrows here - especially over the road where we have our sumptuous breakfasts.  They sometimes arrive on the table and, as soon as they're shoo-ed off, they land again, looking at the shoo-er with real attitude as much as to say "I won't be shoo-ed off by you, mate!"  No pictures of that yet, but maybe soon
